The School Outreach Program

We are proud to announce our collaboration with the organization, EndoWhat to launch the School Outreach program across High Schools in Canada.

The goal of this program is to reduce the delay to diagnosis for endometriosis, which is generally 7 years minimum, by increasing awareness and education among teachers & students. Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 women and 70% of teens with pelvic pain go on to be diagnosed with the disease. As a result, education in high school is imperative so that symptoms can be identified early on and proper medical support organized. High Schools participating in the program will receive an educational package free of cost for teachers, counsellors and educational professionals to utilize. The package includes a DVD copy of the “EndoWhat?” documentary (called film of the year by the Guardian), an infographic poster, educational booklet, discussion guide, and a sample class lesson plan.

For more information about the project or to become an official sponsor please email us at info@endocanada.org.

The Nelson & District Credit Union

For over 70 years, Nelson & District Credit Union has been a proud supporter of our local communities. On the day BC’s first credit union opened its doors history was in the making. Running a financial institution on the principles of democracy may not seem like a radical idea today, but in the first half of the 20th century, when profit-motivated banks made it difficult for the average citizen to borrow or invest, it was revolutionary. Ever since, credit unions like NDCU have helped shape the economic and social quality of life in BC. As our history shows, the balance of service excellence, sound financial practices and a commitment to community has attracted more and more British Columbians over the decades.

The Kootenay Co-op

Our members have been growing our Co-op since 1975. What originally started as a buying club – a small group of like-minded people sourcing bulk-sized organic staples – has turned into a $26 million dollar grocery store with 5 distinct departments and 16,000 members.  While the size and scope may have changed, the passion for sourcing quality products that are good for us and our planet hasn’t changed.
